"Friendly People Sharing Jesus"

Our Small Group is new this year.   We formed as a result of last year’s Alpha Session.  Marilyn and Glenn Hansen facilitate the meetings, which are held at Deb Barrieau’s home on Tuesday evenings.  Pete & Maggie Day, Elizabeth Belote, Rob & Elaine Sylvester and Carol Ciesielski are regular members.

During Lent we participated in the parish-wide study “33 Laws of Stewardship”.  We recently concluded “A Life Worth Living”, a detailed study of Paul’s letter to the Philippians while he was imprisoned.  Just this week we began “What’s So Amazing about Grace?”, a ten-session study about Grace.   Between each topic, we managed to squeeze in a strictly social get-together.  We enjoyed a Pot Luck dinner at Deb’s house after “33 Laws” and most recently a BBQ at the Day’s home to conclude our “Life Worth Living” study and a send-off to the Hansens as they prepare to head north for the summer.  Their annual trip to upstate New York to visit friends and family will be a little shorter this year because of Glenn’s duties as a vestry member.  We should have them back in early September.  Deb will be facilitating the group until their return.

Our Group members are very active in local outreach and ministries.  Glenn serves as Sound Tech, delivers Meals on Wheels and with Marilyn is involved in Anchor House.  Marilyn is a Daughter of the King, (an order dedicated to Prayer, Service and Evangelism) serves on the Prayer Team, is a member of the choir and regularly cooks for the Wednesday night suppers.

Pete Day (aka Polk County’s 2007 Driver of the Year) serves as a Greeter and Usher.  Maggie Day serves as Sound Tech, Genesis Sunday School Teacher, Welcome Team, Greeter Chairman, Outreach Ministry and also cooks regularly for the Wednesday night suppers.

Our youngest member, Elizabeth Belote is a Genesis Sunday School Teacher and recently started a new career as Building Inspector for the city of Kissimmee.

Rob & Elaine Sylvester joined our group after Lent.  Elaine delivers bread for the Welcome Committee to new members.

Deb is a Daughter of the King, Sound Technician and cooks occasionally for the Wednesday night Supper.

Carol has been attending the Inquirers’ Class and is scheduled to be received as a member of Holy Cross.
